Running Sound and Lights for "The Nerd"
May 16 2008, 8:13 PM EDT I got my first chance to run sound and lights for this show. I thought it might be useful for me to add the sequences for bringing up the sound and light system and for shutting it down after the show. I'll rough it in for now and double check it for accuracy later... When you enter the control booth, the sound system is to your right and the light board on the far left. Here's how to bring everything up for cold iron. 1. Sound first... on the tall rack in the corner with all the patch cords on it, select the "ON" button at the top of the rack. Press it in. The rack will power up and will simultaneously power up the sound board (with all the knobs and sliders on it) and put power on the sound and video computers located between the board and the tall rack. 2. Under the counter below the two computer monitors are the CPUs for the sound and video computers. Press the power buttons for each and they will boot up in windows. Thereafter you can select whatever software system you intend to use (ex. PowerPoint on the Video computer or ________ on the sound computer). 3. Now go to the light board on the other side of the control booth. Beneath the two computer monitors and under the counter is the CPU for the light computer. Press the power button and it will power up. Wait until it is completely finished on the right hand monitor, then reach behind the light board directly behind the right hand work light stalk. There is a toggle switch which turns on the board. The way the lights are currently set up, SUB 2 brings up the saftey lights in the theater. There is a small white box on the wall to the right of the two light monitors. Button one (top left) will bring up the house lights. I'm running out of space and need to check all these instructions for accuracy. Will add more later.... Cheers!! Jim Johnson Do you find this valuable? |
